Register for Mid-Ohio Growers’ Meeting by Dec. 31 for savings

WOOSTER, Ohio — Whether growers are looking for the “Wow” factor or seeking unique vegetables for their consumers, the third Mid-Ohio Growers’ Meeting offers a variety of topics for operations of all sizes.
It is scheduled for Jan. 8-9 at the Buckeye Event Center, located at 624 Henry Street in Dalton, and there will be a slate of researchers and industry professionals to present the latest research and techniques on produce. This includes sessions on food safety, new varieties for niche markets and the use of manure as compost.
The meeting will include an expanded trade show with exhibitors offering new information and technology for the produce industry, with significant discounts for purchases made during the show.
The Jan. 8 sessions include sessions such as Growing Flowers In Unusual Tem-peratures by Dennis Crum, Balancing Soil Nutrition With Cover Crops by David Raber, Grower Challenges To Transition From Conventional to Organic by Andy Hupp, Growing And Harvesting Green Profitably All Year by Adam Montri and Plasticulture Strawberry Growing Experiences – Varieties & Nutrition by Brad Bergefurd.
The Friday sessions include Winter Pro-duction In A High Tunnel by Adam Montri, Creating That ‘Wow’ Planter by Rita Randolph, Understanding Soil Biology by Gary Campbell, How Food Safety Audits Are Done by  John Mast and Promoting New Grower Interest by Raymond Yoder.
The cost of the meeting is $20 if payment is postmarked by Dec. 31. After then, the cost is $25 and may be paid at the door. Those age 14 and under will be admitted free. The fee includes the trade show and materials.
