ILLINOIS
 
Sept. 16-17: The Illinois Grape Growers & Vintners Assoc. will host the 14th annual Vintage Illinois Wine Festival at the Matthiessen State Park in Utica, Ill. The Festival’s hours are Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance or receive early admission to the event by going to www.vintageillinois.com

The cost is $25 (plus a $2.09 fee) in advance, and it includes tasting tickets and a 2017 complementary wine glass. Tickets at the door cost $30, and include a complimentary Vintage Illinois wine glass and five tasting tickets. Those who buy tickets for Saturday may return Sunday with the wristband and glass and purchase more tasting tickets. Attendees may bring a Designated Driver for $5 (plus $1.27 fee), which includes three tickets for non-alcoholic beverages; or $7 at the door, receiving two non-alcoholic beverage tickets.

Sept. 17: The DeKalb County Farm Stroll will be open from noon to 5 p.m. around Sycamore, Ill. This is a free, self-guided tour of the county’s diversified family farms. For more details, call the DeKalb Extension office at 815-758-8194.

Sept. 29: Scientists and students will come together to highlight innovative technologies in agriculture at the DuPont-Pioneer Plant Sciences Symposium at the

INDIANA

Sept. 25-30: The 71st annual Mitchell Persimmon Festival will begin with a candlelight tour on Sept. 23 at Spring Mill State Park’s Pioneer Village. The week-long festival in Mitchell, Ind. also includes midway rides, live entertainment, food booths and a queen contest.

KENTUCKY
 
 Sept. 15: The Kentucky Agricultural Financial Corp. and Kentucky Agricultural Development Board will host monthly business meetings consecutively at 9 a.m. at the Clark County Cooperative Extension Office, 1400 Fortune Drive, Room A in Winchester, Ky. Sept. 22-24: Marion County Country Ham Days will be from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily in downtown Lebanon, Ky. The festival, which began in 1969, serves more than 4,000 pounds of ham to more than 40,000 visitors each year. MICHIGAN

The event will include discussions about rotational grazing, grasses and legumes, and winter grazing. Oct. 3: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration will host a public meeting titled Development of a List of Dietary Ingredients that Pre-Date the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994. The meeting will go from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the CFSAN Wiley Auditorium, 5001 Campus Dr. in College Park, Md. The FDA is accepting public comments on this meeting. Oct. 3-5: Learn how to increase pasture productivity by attending the grazing basics workshop at the Ohio State University ATI campus in Wooster, Ohio. The workshop features morning classroom sessions combined with afternoon hands-on learning, demonstrations and practice sessions in the field. The cost of the workshop is $150 per person, which includes a grazing notebook, a pasture measurement stick, additional handouts, lunches and refreshments. A second person from a farm operation sharing a notebook is an additional $100. Pre-registration is required by Sept. 25.
