Ft. Recovery FFA poultry, dairy judging teams banner at state
FORT RECOVERY, Ohio — The Fort Recovery FFA Poultry Judging Team recently placed third out of 67 teams in the State Poultry Judging Skills contest held at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. The poultry team had to grade interior and exterior egg quality, grade carcasses of chickens and turkeys, judge broilers and layers and take an exam over the poultry industry. The poultry judging team members were Eric Brackman, Kurt Fortkamp, Nathan Fortkamp, Caitlin Gehret, Barbie Link, Gusty Link, Jessie Link, Kyle Schmitz and Alan Vogel. Junior Nathan Fortkamp, son of Paul and Ginny Fortkamp, placed third individually in the contest.
The poultry judging team received a third place blue and gold banner to hang in the classroom. 

Also, the Fort Recovery FFA Dairy Team consisting of Taylor Guggenbiller, Zach Guggenbiller, Sam Muhlenkamp, Jon Post, Emily Schoenlein, Abby Sudhoff, Aaron Will and Stacy Will recently traveled to the State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio and placed fifth in the state out of 83 teams. Each student participating in the dairy judging contest was challenged with a pedigree evaluation, sire selection, linear evaluation and a written test.

The dairy team had to judge six different classes of dairy breeds while answering five questions on each class. The team received a blue and gold banner to hang in the classroom.
