Oct. 4: The Universities of Illinois and Wisconsin and Hooved Animal Humane Society are sponsoring two workshops on composting (9 a.m.-noon, $10), and dealing with manure for horse and small livestock owners (1-4 p.m., $25 advance; $35 walk-in) in Woodstock, Ill. INDIANA
Sept. 23: Purdue extension will offer a risk management course to farm women in Franklin, Kosciusko, Wayne/Union and Perry counties. Sept. 23-26: The 16th Great Franklin County Antique Machinery Show will be at the county park/fairgrounds on the south side of Brookville, Ind. Sept. 25-26: Vogt’s 15th annual Pumpkin Festival, will take place at the Vogt Farm in Batesville, Ind., at 12115 N. State Road 129. Admission and parking are free. Sept. 28:
The U.S. EPA wants to discuss the proposal of regulating coal ash from coal-fired power plants.
