Miami East FFA officer team attends conference
CASSTOWN, Ind. — On April 5, officers of the Miami East FFA Chapter attended the 2006 Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) Conference for the District 5 FFA. The conference was sponsored by the Ohio FFA Association and was hosted by Ft. Loramie High School.

Attending from Miami East FFA were Tyler Schindel, president; Nikki Harris, vice president; Amber Johnson, secretary; Taler Mumford, sentinel; Brooke Havenar, student advisor and Whitney Wagner, reporter.

On hand to provide the training was 2005-06 State Treasurer Beth Custer and District 5 President Mary Will. The officers were instructed on their responsibilities as a chapter officer. They also strengthened their teamwork skills through several hands-on activities.

B. Graham/Ohio Hi-Point FFA inducts new officers
ST. PARIS, Ohio — On March 16, the 2006-2007 A.B. Graham/Ohio Hi-Point FFA officers were installed at the annual Parent Member FFA Banquet. Officers were installed by their respective 2005-2006 officer.

The new officer team includes: president, Steve Bowers, son of David Bowers; vice president, Jena Dyke, daughter of Tonya Eales, Curt Circle, Monte and Trish Dyke; secretary, Kaitlynn Bockenek, daughter of Jerry and Rae Jean Bockenek; treasurer Kyle Johnson, son of Eric and Molly Johnson; reporter Bretannia Spence, daughter of Mike and Sherri Spence; sentinel Abby Nitchman, daughter of Mike and Shallice Nitchman; and student advisor Ceci Cohn, daughter of Jim and Abby Cohn.

Two Ohio State ag students receive scholarships for 2006/07 school year
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Tricia Adams and Brandon Frankart recently received scholarships for their 2006-2007 school year at Ohio State University.

Tricia Adams of West Lafayette, Ohio has been awarded the Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers Scholarhip, worth $1,500. Adams, daughter of Tim and Debbie Adams, is a senior at The Ohio State University majoring in agribusiness and applied economics. A 2002 graduate of Ridgewood High School, she plans to obtain a masters degree in international economic development.

Brandon Frankart of Bloomville, Ohio has been awarded the Charles Ingraham Scholarship. Frankart, son of Randy and Nancy Frankart, is a freshman at Ohio State University majoring in agribusiness and applied economics. A 2005 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School, he plans to pursue a career in the seed industry.
