Annual FFA benefit tractor drive hitting S. Indiana roads April 16

By NANCY VORIS

FRANKLIN, Ind. — Some are old, some are new, some are borrowed, some are blue.

No, not spring weddings; it’s time for the fifth annual FFA Tractor Drive on April 16, and tractors from all over Indiana will again be snaking their way around southern Johnson County highways and byways to the Indiana FFA Leadership Center near Trafalgar.

The event is designed to tune up the tractors and get the farmers out on a beautiful spring day to support the Indiana FFA Foundation. Any type of tractor is welcome, whether antique or modern.

“We started the first year with 16 tractors, and last year we had 33,” said Brian Buchanan, an organizer of the event. “This year we’re shooting for 50.”
The approximately 40-mile ride begins at the Johnson County Fairgrounds with registration from 8-9 a.m. and engines starting at 9:30. Lunch will be held at the Indiana FFA Leadership Center and drinks and snacks will be provided throughout the day.

The drive will return to the fairgrounds at approximately 4:30 p.m. Early bird registration by April 1 is a $40 donation, and registrants receive a free T-shirt.
Registrations received after April 2 will be a $50 donation. Pre-registration is preferred, but registrations will be accepted the day of the event. To obtain a registration form or for more details, visit www.indianaffa.org or contact: Brian Buchanan, at brianw buchanan@yahoo.com or 317-919-2025; Tim Newcomb, at tnewcomb@becks hybrids.com 317-439-1176; or Charlie Canary, 317-736-6874 or canfarm@embarqmail.com

The mission of the Indiana FFA Foundation is to support, fund and promote the programs and objectives of the Indiana FFA Assoc.
