Obituary - Phillip Lee Wilson
Phillip Lee Wilson
January 2, 1951-September 23, 2011

Phillip Lee Wilson, 60, of rural Frankfort, Ind., died Sept. 23, 2011, at St Vincent’s hospital in Indianapolis from a complicated case of lymphoma. The rapid physical decline ending in Phil’s death was a terrible shock to all who knew and loved him.

He was born on Jan. 2, 1951, to Kay (Huff) Wilson Jones and Herman Dwight “Tiny” Wilson at Clinton County Hospital. Phil graduated from Rossville High School in 1969, where he played on a legendary basketball team that went to the semi-finals. While in high school, Phil also earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Phil attended Purdue University and Ball State University before entering business in 1976. He demonstrated unflagging support for his family, church and community. As an adult, he was a Boy Scout leader, Elder, Trustee and lifelong member of Geetingsville Presbyterian Church.

Phil operated the WLC Co., a family business that started in 1936, in Sedalia, Ind. Though the business started by supplying the small family farm, a variety of other equipment such as cooling fans, pressure washers, hoses and hydraulics were added as small farms declined.

Phil also found a rock-solid partner in his wife of 27 years, Barbara Anderson Wilson, who joined him in business and in parenting two children from his previous marriage and the three she brought into the marriage.

Phil is preceded in death by his father, a brother, Maj. Alan Wilson, and stepson, Phillip Todd Williams.

Survivors include mother Kay Jones of Indianapolis, sisters Karen Wilson and Janet Wilson of Indianapolis, wife, Barbara, daughter Rebecca Townsend (Clyde) of Indianapolis, son Ryan Wilson of Rossville, Ind., stepson Terry Williams (Crystal) of Bringhurst, Ind., and stepdaughter Melissa Alter (Stace) of Forest, Ind.
He is also survived by six grandchildren.

Visitation was set at Bodine Funeral home in Rossville from 4-8 p.m. on Sept. 27.

Additional visitation was held for one hour prior to the funeral service, which was 2 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Geetingsville Presbyterian Church. Burial followed at the Geetingsville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Geetingsville Presbyterian Church, at 2037 E. State Rd. 26, Frankfort, IN 46041, or the Clinton County Cancer Society.
