Darke County Steam Thresher’s will host yearly reunion June 28
By MICHELE F. MIHALJEVICH
Indiana Correspondent

GREENVILLE, Ohio — The 56th Darke County Steam Thresher’s annual reunion is June 28-July 1 at York Woods north of Greenville.
This year’s show will feature Advance steam engines, Cockshutt tractors and Hercules gas engines, said Dave Gibson, vice president of the Darke County Steam Thresher’s Assoc. The show will also offer demonstrations of threshing, baling and plowing with steam power, he said.

A sawmill run by a steam engine will be on display. “Our main goal is to show people what rural life was like back in the old days,” he explained.

“We use the equipment to put on demonstrations of how things were done in the 1920s and 1930s. It really can give a good feel for what it was like.”

Last year, close to 3,000 people visited the show, Gibson noted.
Show organizers try to offer activities for all ages, he said. For example, there will be tractor and kiddie tractor pulls, steam engine and tractor games featuring exhibitors, a flea market, a draft horse pull, daily parade and a “needle in the haystack” game.
York Woods is eight miles north of Greenville, at Ohio Route 127 and Reed Road.
