Tractor Supply hosting semi-annual 4-H fundraiser

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — Tractor Supply Co. will partner with National 4-H Council for a nationwide in-store fundraiser to send thousands of students to 4-H youth development programs, camps and leadership conferences across the country.

Between now and May 7, Tractor Supply customers can participate in the 2017 spring Paper Clover Campaign by purchasing paper clovers – the emblem of 4-H – for $1 or more at checkout. The funds raised will be awarded as scholarships to individual 4-H members wishing to attend 4-H camps and leadership conferences across the country.

Since it began in 2010, the partnership between Tractor Supply and 4-H has generated more than $10 million in essential funding. The Paper Clover fundraiser, which takes place in the spring and fall, raised nearly $900,000 during the Fall 2016 campaign. The number of scholarships distributed to students following thespring fundraiser will be determined based on the total amount raised.

4-H Clubs are encouraged to participate in stores during the event to help increase fundraising dollars and be entered into the Paper Clover Participation Sweepstakes. For more information on how to apply, members should contact their county agents or visit www.tractorsupply.com/4H

National FFA awards $2.7 million in scholarships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The National FFA Organization and National FFA Foundation have awarded more than $2.7 million in scholarships to 1,884 recipients. This was made possible thanks to the generosity of 115 sponsors.

More than 8,300 students applied for the scholarships, with many of the applicants being considered for multiple awards. Approximately one in every four students who applied was awarded a scholarship. The scholarships were available to students pursuing two-year or four-year degrees or vocational programs. The average recipients had a GPA of 3.76 on a 4.0 scale and were in the top 16 percent of their class.

This year marks the 33rd for the scholarship program, which began in 1984 with 16 offered. Since then, more than $47 million has been awarded in funds through the National FFA Organization.

The selection process takes into account the whole student, including FFA involvement, work experience, supervised agricultural experience, community service, leadership skills and academics.

A list of recipients is available at FFA.org - instructions on how to claim scholarships will be mailed to recipients in late May. Those who have not received instructions by July 1 should email scholarships@ffa.org
