Carl J. Hesselbrock
 
August 4, 1927-June 18, 2017 Carl J. Hesselbrock, age 89, of Morgan Township, Ohio, passed away on June 18, 2017, at the family farm surrounded by his family. He was born on August 4, 1927, in Harrison, Ohio, the son of Aloysius and Melinda (Hodapp) Hesselbrock.
 
He attended Ross Local Schools and served in the U.S. Army. On April 15, 1950, he married Marjorie Arnold at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Shandon, Ohio. Carl dearly loved his family and farming. He was a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Church, where he served on the Parish Council, Temporal Affairs the Building Committee, the Cemetery Committee and the Men’s Society.

He also was a board member for the Farm Service Agency, a member of the Soil and Water Board, the Extension Advisory Committee, the National Farmers Organization, the Ohio Farmers Union, the Ohio Farm Bureau and the Morgan Township Zoning Board. He was a 4-H advisor for the Morgan Livestock Club.

He won the Goodyear Conservation Farmer of the Year Award and the Ed Zorn Memorial Award of Extension, Center for Economical Initiatives host family, and was named as the Ohio NFO member of the year. Carl also donated a cabin to Governor Bebb Park. He was an avid sports fan and played baseball and, later, softball on the Okeana and Stehlins traveling ball teams.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie Hesselbrock; children, Tim, Carla (Steve) Baer, Patti (Scott) Kronour, Joseph (Tammi) and Larry (Emilie); grandchildren, Jon (Michelle), Gary (Kelly), Eric (Jenny), Daniel (Kelsey), Leigh Ann, Kyle, Tyler, Nicholas, Erin, Emilee, Matthew, Luke, Liam and Olivia; step grandchildren, Ryan, Alex (Alison) and Evan (Amy); great-grandchildren, Jacob, Landon, Anna and William; sister, Rita Vonderhaar; and many other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ray (Betty); sisters, Alta (Richard) Poirier, Nola Fagaly and Ada Mary; and greatgrandson, Logan.

Visitation was at the Charles C. Young Funeral Home in Ross, Ohio, on June 22, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Church in Shandon on June 23, with burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
