McLean County parcels auctioned off for $6,261 per acre

MCLEAN COUNTY, Ky. — A 132.85-acre fenced hill pasture farm with an older brick home sold at auction to two area landowners for $831,718, or an average of $6,261 per acre.

Clark County land auctions for over $10,000 per acre

CASEY, Ill. — The small town of Casey has the motto “Big Things in a Small Town” and it recently hosted a big auction at the local VFW. A capacity crowd gathered to watch as Halderman Real Estate sold a historic 987-acre farm owned by Blue Mound Farm LLC to one buyer.

The Clark County land was divided into 11 tracts for the auction, allowing everyone the chance to purchase part of the farm. As the auctioneer worked through the individual tracts the excitement in the room began to grow and the total of all tracts ended on $6.05 million, or $6,124 per acre. That total was used as a starting point for the bidding on the whole farm.

When the auctioneer opened the bidding to any combination of tracts there were no bids, as the whole farm bidding once again pushed upwards to the final selling price of $10,197,000, or $10,322 per acre, including the buyer’s premium. The well-maintained, productive farmland is once again owned by one buyer.
