March 31-April 2: The 39th Hoosier Horse Fair & Expo will be at the Indiana
State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Ind. Horse owners can catch up on the latest
training and education, shop the nation’s premier equine vendors and connect with

March 31-April 2: The annual Rising Sun QuiltFest will be at the Rising Sun
History Museum, 212 S. Walnut St., Rising Sun, Ind. The public is invited to
participate in the annual quilt contest, and entries will be received no later than

IOWA
 
April 11-14: The American Feed Industry Assoc. will host a hazard
analysis and critical control points (HACCP) training April 11-12 and a
FAMI-QS Awareness in Feed Safety course immediately following, April 13-
14, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Des Moines Airport in Des Moines, Iowa.
The HACCP training is accredited by the International HACCP Alliance. The
FAMI-QS program is benchmarked against the European Commission
feed regulations, which allows for exporters and importers to gain entry
into new international markets with greater ease and success. For HACCP

June 7-9: The 2017 World Pork Expo, including hundreds of exhibitors, free
educational seminars, live hog shows and sales, networking opportunities and
more, will be at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa. The website www.

KENTUCKY
 
March 25: Breckinridge Cattlemen’s Assoc. has organized a relief trip to
deliver several semitrailer loads of hay to wildfire-damaged Texas. Those
participating will gather at 8 a.m. CST at University of Kentucky Extension office

April 3-6: The 2017 National Institute for Animal Agriculture Annual Conference
– focusing on the globalization of food production – will bring a lineup of

April 22: The 23rd Annual Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park
Dinner-Auction will be 5 to 10 p.m. at Wallace Lodge in Sally Buffalo

construction, mining, and agriculture related items such as models, antique,

TENNESSEE
 
April 18-May 9: The University of Tennessee Center for Profitable
Agriculture will conduct “E-commerce for Direct Farm Marketers” workshops in
Memphis (April 18) and Jonesborough (May 9). Both workshops will be 9 a.m.
to 3:30 p.m. local time. Register (https://tiny.utk.edu/ecommerce) by April 13
for Memphis and by May 4 for the Jonesborough workshop.
 
April 28: University of Tennessee Extension will conduct the Southeast TN
Beef Summit from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the McMinn County Expo Center in Athens,

May 10-July 11: Dreaming of managing your own green acres? The University
of Tennessee Center for Profitable Agriculture will offer “Considerations
for Beginning Farmers” at several dates and locations across the state. The fullday
workshop is designed for those with little or no farming background. Cost to
attend is $25 per person, which includes the program and lunch.

May 2, 2017.
