LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Wheat Program’s Wheat-tastic Wheat Wisdom Wednesday Webinar series will host its final program on March 24.  It is the last of a six-part program. More than 1,000 viewers have already heard from experts across the US and across the pond for updates on marketing, fall wheat management, combine residue management, soil health and amazing yields achieved in the United Kingdom.

The program starts at 8 a.m. and runs for 90 minutes. It features Dennis Pennington, Michigan State University wheat specialist. Pennington will provide a Michigan Wheat Crop and Research Update.

Pennington has worked on many research projects for the Michigan Wheat Program since 2016 and coordinates all on-farm wheat research on- and off-campus for the Michigan wheat check-off and MSU. He works in partnership with breeder Eric Olson on the variety trials, which continue to grow annually both in size and data available through the high management trials. He holds BS and MA degrees and is a forages expert. 

In addition to all of his research and production responsibilities, he has also authored or collaborated on several publications. Pennington provides monthly content for the Michigan Wheat Program’s e-newsletter, Wheat Wisdom, and recently co-produced the just-released Michigan Wheat 101 publication, which should be hitting grower mailboxes very soon.

At the beginning of each webinar, Michigan Wheat Program executive director Jody Pollok-Newsom will provide an update on the Michigan Wheat Program. Terry Henne from WSGW will emcee and introduce each program. Close-out will include time for a question-and-answer session. There is 1.5 CCA and 1 RUP credits for each workshop – so long as participants attend on the Michigan Wheat Program/MSU Extension Zoom link and take the survey at the end to enter their information. The webinars may also be viewed on Facebook Live, but there are no credits available for those viewers.
