ICGA board positions open

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 21, 2023) — Indiana Farmers who want to represent agriculture in federal and state legislative halls should consider adding their name to this year’s Indiana Corn Growers Association (ICGA) board election ballot. The ICGA board advocates for Hoosier corn farmers at the local, state and federal levels. ICGA’s governing districts match the nine Congressional districts across the state. This year, ICGA will fill seats in Districts 3, 6 and 9.
“ICGA’s mission is to represent Indiana’s corn farmers to lawmakers who make decisions that affect our business,” said ICGA President Chris Cherry, who operates a corn and soybean farm in rural Hancock County. “I share the concerns of Indiana corn farmers for our industry. ICGA offers a platform necessary to address the people and agencies who can address those concerns. This is an opportunity for interested corn growers to take an active part in helping secure a better future for Hoosier farmers.”
To be eligible, candidates must be an ICGA member in good standing; own, manage or operate a farm that produces corn; reside in the district they represent; and be current on membership dues.
District 3 includes the counties of Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Whitley, Huntington, Wells, Blackford, Jay, Adams, Allen, DeKalb and Steuben. This seat is open as ICGA Director Sarah Delbecq will term off the board in 2024.
District 6 includes the counties of Delaware, Randolph, Henry, Wayne, Union, Fayette, Franklin, Rush, Hancock, Shelby, Bartholomew, Decatur, Ripley, Jennings, Jefferson, Scott, Switzerland, Ohio and Dearborn.
District 9 includes Morgan, Johnson, Brown, Monroe, Lawrence, Orange, Jackson, Washington, Scott, Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Crawford counties.
Election applications are due to the ICGA office by Jan. 26. Ballots will be mailed to members in mid-June and must be returned in July. Winners will begin a three-year term in December 2024.
