Wrenching Tales By Cindy Ladage Antique tractor collectors may be looking for farm, tractor and toy shows to sustain them until the summer shows take off, and here are a few picks. The Antique Engine & Tractor Swap Meet at Avon Park, Fla., takes place January 14-17. This show is a favorite for those that like to buy, sell and swap. For something a little extra, at this year’s show, the NASGRASS Lawnmower Racing Demonstrations will be on January 16 at 5 p.m., and the Antique Car Cruise is held January 17. Visitors will enjoy walking through the Village, with a variety of buildings and contents. For those looking for Midwest fun, check out the Quad City Farm Show. Held January 18-29 in Rock Island, Ill., at the QCCA Expo Center, the show is located next door to the show Quad City Botanica Center offering a bit of warmth, flowers and sunshine during the cold Midwest January. Another show held in January is the Purchase Area Antique Tractor Club Winter Show at the Murray State Expo Center in Murray, Ky. This show is put on by the Purchase Area Antique Tractor Club. Not far from the site of the Half Century of Progress, and the Penfield I & I Historic Days, check out the 2026 Midwest AG Expo. Held January 21-22, at Gordyville, USA in Gifford, Ill. This show has a mix of what’s new in farming and antique tractors. It is also a place to pick up the Half Century of Progress book. February brings the highly anticipated Gateway MidAmerica Toy Show on January 30 – January 31, in St. Louis at the Sheraton Westport. This is the 44th show and is a huge favorite with farm toy collectors because of the farm layout model and scratch built contests. Truck collectors also have a chance in February to visit the Midwest Truck & Trailer Show. Held February 6-7 in Peoria, Ill., advertised as the “Biggest Little truck show in the country the show is at the Peoria Civic Center. The granddaddy National Farm Machinery Show where farmers, ranchers and agribusiness leaders learn the latest and greatest in agriculture is held February 11-14 in Louisville, Ky. This is the 60th year for the show and is considered the country’s largest indoor farm show. While there is the latest and greatest, there is usually antique equipment on display along with toys as well. For those ready for Florida sunshine in mid-winter, the Florida Flywheeler Antique Engine & Tractor Show is the larger of the two shows and swap meets they offer. February 25-28, 2026 in Avon Park, Florida, this is the 33rd annual show. This year they are featuring Ford and New Holland. Collectors that favor Farmall Red may want to attend the International Harvester Winter Convention March 18-21 in Clemmons, N.C. The three-day show includes informative sessions, a trade show open to the public, scenic tours and banquet with famed broadcaster Max Armstrong. Several brands offer winter shows like the HPOCA Oliver Winter Convention. It is held March 12-14, in Auburn, Ind., at the Kruse Plaza. The show will offer muscle tractors from the 1960s and up with special events swap meet, toy show, craft show and more. Prairie Gold collectors may want to attend the Minneapolis Moline Winter Show on March 12-14 in Fair Oaks, Ind. The 2026 MM show is hosted this year by Brent Bingham of Fair Oaks. Brent has an extensive collection of LP MM tractors. The show offers vendors, a banquet, auction and more! Deemed “Little Dyersville”, farm toy collectors flock to the small burg of Sublette, Ill., for the Sublette Toy Show. March 14-15, the small town of 500 explodes to thousands. This show is a big fund raiser for the local sports teams and at their banquet they give away FFA scholarships and have a fun speaker. They offer a wonderful Sunday breakfast. Tractors are outside, and farm toys are inside. This is a fun two-day event. Returning for the first time in four years, Gathering of the Green 2026 will be March 18-22, 2026, in Davenport, Iowa. John Deere workshops, vendors, tours and more are offered at this one-of-a-kind event.
