A blaze caused extensive damage to the upper two floors of the three-story building of the Home Economics II building on the Purdue University campus. The cause of the fire and the estimate of damage have not been determined at this time.

An August gilt entry made by the William Laird Family of Waldron became the Grand Champion female of the national show. The gilt sold for $500 to Robert Symonds of Brimfield, Ill.

A barn on the farm belonging to Donald Dickey of Williamsburg was destroyed by fire, believed set by lightning. Two boars, 10 bred gilts and 13 pigs were lost in the fire; a bull was saved.
