Parkway FFA Chapter competes in online CDEs  
ROCKFORD, Ohio — The Parkway FFA Chapter recently competed in online tests for their CDE’s. These tests included ag co-op, grain merchandising, ag engineering and farm business management. The ag co-op team placed fifth in the state. 

The team consisted of Caden Hellwarth, Seth Houts, Courtney Dicke and Kayla Walls. Next, the grain merchandising team, consisting of Seth Houts, Caden Hellwarth, Tyler Matthews and Kameron Roehm got fourth in the state. Then, the ag engineering team received fifth in the state, with a team consisting of Devin Adams, Caden Hellwarth, Jared Rollins and Josh Ford. Finally, the farm business management team consisting of Caden Hellwarth, Seth Houts, Tommy McDonough and Clay Thomas was awarded fourth in the state. Pioneer dealer donates money to NorthWood FFA
NAPPANEE, Ind. — Scott Fervida, a local sales agent with Pioneer Hi-Bred, has donated money to NorthWood FFA. Fervida was awarded this contribution money by Pioneer for his dedication to customer-focused activities throughout the year. 

The donation by Pioneer was matched by Fervida to the FFA. Fervida is a NorthWood FFA alumni and has been a member of the community throughout his life. 

Wilbur-Ellis awards youth ag scholarships
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Wilbur-Ellis Company, a marketer and distributor of agricultural and feed products, has announced its recipients for the 2012 National FFA Collegiate Scholarship program. The company is one of 130 organizations providing 1,639 individual scholarships, worth $1.9 million, to students in FFA for the 28th year in a row.

Wilbur-Ellis awarded 14 scholarship recipients based on their academic excellence, leadership activities, work experience and contributions to FFA. Recipients from the Farm World readership area include:

·Laramie Wells—Wilmington College – $1,000
“Wilbur-Ellis is proud to support FFA and its efforts to cultivate our future agricultural leaders,” said Mike Hunter, vice president and chief financial officer at Wilbur-Ellis Company.  “We congratulate this year’s recipients on their success and look forward to seeing more of their achievements as they continue their career pursuits in the agricultural industry.”

Since the program’s inception in 1984, the number of scholarships awarded has increased from 16 to 1,639.  Scholarships are available to students pursuing two- or four-year degrees or certifications.  Recipients can utilize the scholarship funds on educational expenses that include books, supplies, tuition, fees and room and board.

The 2013 scholarship application will be available starting Nov. 15, 2012, at www.FFA.org/scholarships

Michigan girl works as intern for Angus association
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Angus Production, Inc., recently welcomed Kelli Fulkerson, Union City, Mich., as the summer intern in the editorial department. She will cover summer Angus events and assist with the print and digital editorial work.  

“I am honored to work for API this summer, it is a dream-come-true to work for the Angus industry” said Fulkerson. “Through this internship, I hope to gain communications experience amongst some of the most highly respected individuals in the beef business.”  

Fulkerson grew up on a small cattle and diversified-crop farm in southwest Michigan.  She is a student at South Dakota State University, majoring in agricultural communications and animal science. Upon completion of her degrees she hopes to work in the field of agricultural communications.   

“Kelli brings to the team a strong cattle background and a passion for communicating with and on behalf of cattlemen. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and we look forward to a very productive summer,” said Shauna Hermel, editor for API.

Her passion for agricultural communications derives from her experiences as a National Beef Ambassador, National Collegiate Agricultural Ambassador, Michigan FFA State Officer and various agricultural communication internships and organizations. She is also a former NJAA member. Fulkerson’s experiences have enabled her to travel nationwide sharing the story of American agriculture.
