K. David Reitzel Jr.

September 11, 1955-October 23, 2018

K. David Reitzel Jr., 63, of Edon, Ohio, passed away on Oct. 23, 2018, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan. He was born on Sept. 11, 1955, in Montpelier to Keith D. Reitzel Sr. and Doris H. (Hufford) Reitzel.

Dave graduated from Edon High School in 1973. On Feb. 5, 1977, he married Linda L. Faber at First United Methodist Church in Montpelier. He was the co-owner and operator alongside his brother, Kenneth, of Reitzel Bros. LTD in rural Edon. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Edon.

Dave is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda; three sons, K. David Reitzel III of McAlester, Okla., and Jacob (Shawna) Reitzel and Joseph (Taysha) Reitzel, both of Edon; seven grandchildren; brother Kenneth (Gail) Reitzel of Edon; sister Kay (Kenny) Vollmer of Edon; special nephews Christopher, Tyler and Austin Farris; and numerous other family members and close friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and infant daughter Kandythe Reitzel in 1983.

A visitation was held on Oct. 26 at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. The funeral service was on Oct. 27 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary Beth Gunn-Smith officiating. Burial followed at Edon Union Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in Dave’s memory to Edon FFA Alumni or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Charles William Hunt

October 13, 1936-October 13, 2018

Charles William Hunt passed away at Owenton, Ky., on Oct. 13, 2018, on his 82nd birthday. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carole Cunningham Hunt; and five daughters, who were the loves of his life and of whom he was very, very proud – Angela (Mike) Siemens of Towanda, Kan., Deborah (Larry) Waltz of Greenfield, Ind., Gayle (Rob) Starkey of Bay St. Louis, Miss., and Annette (David) Downs of Jackson Center, Pa., and twin sister Jeanette (Rusty) Burk of Noblesville, Ind.

He is also survived by three granddaughters and four grandsons; two great-grandchildren, a boy and a girl; brother Raymond Hunt; and two sisters, Martha Graham and Ruby Fielding.

Charles was a graduate of Galveston High School in Indiana and a 1960 graduate of Purdue University. He was a cattleman and loved to talk about cattle to everyone he met. When his daughters were growing up, vacation times were 4-H and cattle shows all around the United States.

Charles was a volunteer. Every state that Carole and he lived in, their lives revolved around Ag Extension, 4-H and cattle-related activities. He was an advisor for several states’ Junior Cattle groups. He also received many recognitions throughout his life, including being named a Kentucky Colonel.

He never met a stranger and always had time for everyone. He will be missed by his wife, his daughters, extended family and people all over the United States.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 3, at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home, 405 S. Main Cross St., Flemingsburg, Ky., officiated by Pastor Martin L. Voiers and Jarrod R. Fritz.

A memorial visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Nov. 2, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Nov. 3, both at the funeral home. Charles' wishes were to be cremated. Memorials are suggested to: Fleming County 4-H, P.O. Box 192, Flemingsburg, KY 41041.
