With the holidays on the horizon and fall in full swing, Velvet Ice Cream has released its seasonal favorites. Back by popular demand, the Utica, Ohio-based ice cream maker’s Pumpkin Pie and Pure Cinnamon Ice Cream flavors are now available. Velvet’s Pumpkin Pie features rich pumpkin ice cream blended with cinnamon, nutmeg, and bits of crispy, flaky crust. Its wildly popular Pure Cinnamon flavor is made from its Original Vanilla Ice Cream blended with fine-ground cinnamon. While Velvet’s Pure Cinnamon Ice Cream is available year-round, it pairs beautifully now with apples, pies, cider, and cookies. Velvet also released Peppermint Stick Ice Cream and Velvet Peppermint Ice Cream Sandwiches for a limited time. Peppermint Stick is made from peppermint ice cream, infused with red peppermint candies. Inspired by candy canes, these exclusive seasonal flavors are available for a limited time in stores. Velvet Ice Cream also announced four new 3-gallon flavors and a new package size for its sherbet. New 3-gallon flavors include Triple Chocolate Chunk, Cold Brew, Blackberry Cobbler, and Apple Cobbler, which are now available at nearly three dozen dipping parlors. Available at both retail stores and dipping parlors, chocolate lovers will fall head over heels for Velvet’s Triple Chocolate Chunk flavor, which features a blend of Velvet’s tasty chocolate ice cream, packed with fudge-filled chocolate chunks and swirled with more rich, dark fudge. Found only in dipping parlors, Velvet Ice Cream’s new Cold Brew is the ultimate coffee fix, with its rich, roasted Colombian coffee beans that infuse creamy, pure coffee ice cream. A favorite comfort food, cobbler is highlighted in two of the new flavors. Velvet’s new Blackberry Cobbler flavor starts with creamy vanilla ice cream, then adds blackberry sauce and chunks of crisp cobbler. Apple Cobbler features classic vanilla ice cream swirled with crunchy streusel topping bits and spicy cinnamon apples. In addition to this new lineup, Velvet’s famous sherbet flavors are available in stores in quart-size cartons. Florida Orange, Raspberry, Pineapple, and Rainbow Sherbet – which features raspberry, lime, and orange sherbet – are now in the 32-ounce carton at Velvet retail locations. Founded in 1914 by Joseph Dager, four generations of Dagers have since run the company, which is located in Utica on 25 acres of the perfect combination of wooded countryside and rolling, pastoral farmland. Still family-owned and operated, Velvet produces more than 5 million gallons of ice cream every year from its headquarters on the grounds of Ye Olde Mill. Take advantage of seasonal ice cream flavors in these Dager family-favorite recipes.
