Illinois’ Wehmeyer Seed Co. signs with AgVenture KENTLAND, Ind. — Wehmeyer Seed Company, Mascoutah, Ill., continues its steady growth by joining Indiana-based AgVenture, Inc.’s nationwide network of regional seed companies.
Wehmeyer Seed co-owner Dale Wehmeyer has a solid background in the seed industry, having spent 11 years with University of Missouri Foundation Seed before founding Wehmeyer Seed with wife Lisa in 1995.
He said, “One of the biggest changes we see in the seed industry is the technology coming to the farm – not in fertilizer or chemicals, but from the seed. With AgVenture, we will have the greatest access to genetics and technology resources in the industry.”
The partnership will be selling AgVenture brand corn, soybeans and alfalfa across 16 counties in southwestern Illinois, from St Louis, Mo., to Paducah, Ky. Previously, Wehmeyer had been providing retail sales for two other seed companies. It will continue to offer proprietary wheat products to growers.
AgVenture, Inc. is the nation’s largest network of independently-owned regional seed companies. Based in Kentland, Ind., AgVenture provides this growing network with seed products meeting exacting standards for quality, together with leading-edge genetics and technology.
Since 1983, this unique marketing approach has allowed each individual company to match the hybrids it sells to the specific needs of the geographical area it serves.
Buhler 4WD tractors approved for B20 fuel WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Buhler Versatile Inc., a division of Buhler Industries Inc., is pleased to announce that Buhler 4WD tractors powered by Cummins Tier 3 QSM and QSX engines have been approved for B20 biodiesel.
Cummins recently upgraded its previous position on the use of biodiesel fuel, which limited use to B5 blends only, to B20 for three key reasons. First, the American Society of Testing Materials specification ASTM D6751 now includes an important stability specification for B100 biodiesel.
Next, the availability of quality fuels from BQ-9000 Certified Marketers and Accredited Producers is growing rapidly. Finally, Cummins has completed the necessary testing and evaluations to ensure that customers can reliably operate their equipment with confidence using B20 fuel.
This change will enable customers to have a choice that includes renewable resources in their fuel purchase decisions.
“In recent years we have received an increasing number of calls from dealers and farmers about the use of biodiesel in Buhler tractors,” explains Grant Adolph, COO. This farm news was published in the May 2, 2007 issue of Farm World, serving Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan and Tennessee. |
