Obituary

A.W. ‘Mac’ Reynolds
Longtime Fishers, Ind., resident and prominent business owner A.W. “Mac” Reynolds Jr. died Jan. 17, 2008 in Noblesville, Ind., after being hospitalized for several weeks at Riverview Hospital following complications of a stroke.
He was born Arzell Washington Reynolds, Jr., but known as A.W. or, to friends, as “Mac,” a nickname that his late father acquired years before. He was married to Arline (Zook) Reynolds on Dec. 31, 1938, who survives. After attending Fishers schools, Mac graduated from Castleton High School, and worked for Roberts Dairy and continued farming.
On Dec. 15, 1955, he and Arline founded the family-owned and operated John Deere dealership, Reynolds Farm Equipment, Inc., in Fishers. The family business continues tremendous growth with four statewide Reynolds locations as well as interest in seven other statewide John Deere dealerships, a legacy directly attributed to the business and Christian ethics in which Mac based his decisions and actions. While representing Deere & Co., he received many sales and service awards.
He founded Britton Golf Course in 1986. In 1998, Mac was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash award, the highest civilian honor in the state of Indiana, by the late Gov. Frank O’Bannon. He also received the highest award from the Lion’s Club, the Arthur Fellows Award. He was a member of Odd Fellows, the Eastern Star and the Scottish Rite. He was involved with many community projects and organizations, including the Fishers United Methodist Church, charter member of the Fishers Lions Club, charter member of the Fishers Community Volunteer Fire Department and a member for more than 50 years of the Fishers Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Larry A. (and Patti) Reynolds of Palm Harbor, Fla.; son Gary A. (and Cindy) Reynolds of Noblesville; daughter Mary A. (and Dave) Lawson of Fishers; brother Joe Reynolds of Noblesville; brother Jay Reynolds of Noblesville; brother Jim Reynolds of Belleville, Ill.; brother Jon Reynolds of Huntington Beach, Calif.; sister June Rhoades of San Diego, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Jerry Reynolds; one sister, Joy Wilson; and a grandson, Kyle Benson.
Services were Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Fishers United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Reed and Rev. Aaron Hobbs officiating. Burial was at Highland Cemetery in Fishers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fishers United Methodist Church, 9690 E. 116th Street, Fishers, IN 46037; Third Phase, 15755 Allisonville Road, Noblesville, IN 46060; Central Indiana Youth For Christ, P.O.
