The state winning team can then only participate in the national CDE. In October, A-C’s 2006-2007 team placed third in the nation, so the pressure was on the 2007-2008 team.
This year’s team consists of Teran Pinkstock, Tara McCalla, Alyssa Jenkins, Josh Cordle and Ryan Davis. The 2007-2008 team did a lot of things to prepare for this CDE.
They had practice two times a week, participated in the communications workshop hosted by The Ohio State University, and they had to win the District 7 CDE.
The Ag Comm CDE involves a team proposal and presentation, five different practicums, a communications test, and an editing quiz. Pinkstock completed the broadcasting practicum, McCalla participated in web page design, Davis competed in the graphic design, Jenkins compiled the news release, and Cordle wrote the press release.
This is the fourth time that the Amanda Clearcreek FFA chapter has won the State Agricultural Communications CDE.
Four of the A-C team members placed in the top ten in the state, they are: Pinkstock – 2nd, McCalla – 3rd, Jenkins – 6th, and Cordle 8th. Davis still did very well and placed 18th.
“I thought it was very challenging but I enjoyed the contest,” said Jenkins.
“It was a new contest for me and was pretty difficult.
We did good, and hopefully we can work hard to do something great in the national contest next October. We had fun and it should be crazy at nationals,” said Cordle. |
