Indiana Pork planning student-focused events April 7 and 11

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Indiana Pork is hosting several student-focused events this April aimed at building leadership skills, connecting students with career opportunities, and encouraging engagement in issues impacting the pork industry.
On April 7, students are invited to attend a Pork Industry Career Panel at Creighton Hall, Room 1042. The panel will feature professionals from across the pork industry who will share insights about career paths, industry trends, and opportunities available to students interested in agriculture and food production.
Also on April 7, the National Pork Producers Council will join Indiana Pork to host LEADR Training in the Pfendler Hall Dean’s Auditorium. This leadership development program helps students strengthen communication, advocacy and leadership skills while learning more about the issues affecting pork producers. Students who attend will receive a free t-shirt and pizza during the event.
Students will have another opportunity to engage with industry topics during the Indiana Pork Industry Issues Discussion Meet on April 11 at Creighton Hall, Room 1042. The event encourages participants to discuss key issues facing the pork industry while practicing problem-solving and communication skills in a collaborative format. The winner will receive $500 and an expense-paid trip to the World Pork Expo in Des Moines, Iowa, where they will represent Indiana at the National Pork Industry Issues Discussion Meet.
“Indiana Pork supports building a talent pipeline for the industry through several programs,” said Chad Martin with Indiana Pork. “From high school work-based learning placements that introduce youth to production careers, to opportunities that prepare college graduates for management roles, these efforts strengthen our workforce. We also recognize the importance of developing advocates for agriculture and hope these experiences expose college agriculture majors to how policy impacts the industry and how they can turn their passion for agriculture into meaningful action.”
Students interested in learning more about the pork industry, leadership development, and advocacy opportunities are encouraged to attend.
