Instructions:
Put the cocoa, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, salt and hot water in a pan. Heat it for 2 minutes, being sure you stir it full-time to get it well blended.
Next, stir in the milk and cream and stir some more while heating. Don’t let this come to a boil.
Now add the kicker of your choice and stir it well. With Kahlua it will taste like a nice warm and slightly spicy coffee drink. Add the brandy and it will taste like a good, warm brandy Alexander. Add the Irish whiskey and you’ll have a warm Irish coffee – and you may start running an egg route.
We used to have a local farmer who ran an egg route and always stopped in at a local watering hole to have a “coffee” served in a coffee cup. He was an upstanding member of the Grange and didn’t want folks to know he liked his booze in the form of Irish coffee.
I’m not divulging any more than that except to say he didn’t own any chickens and wanted me to loan him $2 a week for which he would pay me back $2.25 after he sold his eggs.
