Cherry Slump
Skinny Cooks

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter 1 cup Bisquick 1/2 cup sugar 1 (3-ounce) box of Jell-O Instant Pudding & pie filling, French Vanilla 1-3/4 cups of milk 1 ( 21-ounce) can of Comstock cherry pie filling

Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Melt the butter in your baking dish and slosh it around so the bottom of the dish is covered. Mix together the Bisquick, sugar and Jell-O powder in a bowl. Pour in the milk and stir it all together so it’s nicely blended. Pour this into the melted butter and stir it around to mix everything together. Open the can of cherry pie filling and pour it down the center of the baking dish in which you have the butter and Bisquick mixture. Then, stir this sideways in an erratic pattern so it will look like a piece of red marble cake, with the cherries well distributed throughout. Place into your preheated oven and bake for approximately 55 minutes; keep your eyes on it so it doesn’t get too brown on top. Give it the “jiggle test” when it’s bubbling well in the center – when the center doesn’t jiggle like liquid, it’s ready to remove from the oven. As you let it cool, everything but the crust around the outside will slump down in the baking dish. Let it set a while to cool down and serve. It’s also delicious served chilled from the refrigerator if you have leftovers. This reminds me of Groucho Marx. He told a baker to advertise, saying, “Try our marble cake. Don’t take it for granite.” Groucho also said, “Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend; inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.” (I’m surprised you fell for those old jokes, too.)
