You can prepare this in a variety of ways. You can place all the ingredients in an ovenproof pot with a lid and bake it at slow heat while you’re doing other things. You can also make a nice batch using a saucepan on top of the stove – again, use medium heat and stir once in a while to get all the flavors blended.
I’m usually in too big a hurry to do the slow-but-good cooking methods, so I generally opt for making mine in the microwave. Just use any microwave-safe pot and cover it with plastic wrap if you can’t find the lid.
Start out cooking in your microwave at full power for 3-5 minutes. You can then remove it from the microwave and test it to see if it’s cooked through. If you think you need to cook it some more, do it in two-minute intervals and test it between intervals. This will help you get it done just right without scorching anything.
Serve with plenty of the broth on crusty rolls or fancy buns. You won’t need to set out any ketchup, mustard or other condiments, as this will make the most delicious roast beef sandwich you’ve ever tasted.
