Instructions:
Pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees F. Use a skillet or sauce pan to sauté the chopped onion in the tablespoon of butter or margarine. Set aside.
Combine the 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese and the one cup of Bisquick, then add the milk. Beat this by hand until it becomes a stiff dough. Turn out on a floured surface and knead about 12 times.
Lightly press the dough and spread it out so it covers the bottom of an 8-inch pie plate. Combine the remaining shredded cheddar cheese and the beaten egg and stir together. Spread this out over the top of the dough in the pie plate.
Sprinkle the sautéed onions and the poppy seeds over the top. Pop this into your pre-heated oven and bake 20 minutes. Slice it into wedges like a pie and serve while warm.
Be sure to teach the kids that it’s necessary to clean up the mess when the cheese bread is baking. Cleaning up is always a necessary task and should be learned at an early age too.
