Ingredients:
7 pounds small pickles 2 gallons cold water 2 cups lime 2 quarts vinegar 5-1/2 pounds sugar 1 teaspoon celery seed 1 teaspoon whole cloves 1 teaspoon mixed pickling spices 1 tablespoon salt Green food coloring

Instructions:
Put the pickles in a glass or crockery containers and add the cold water and lime. Let soak for 24 hours. Pour off the liquid and wash in cold water. Let stand in the cold water three hours, then drain. Make a syrup using the vinegar, sugar, celery seed, whole cloves, pickling spices and salt. Soak the pickles in the syrup mixture at least overnight. The next day, put on the stove and cook until clear. Add the green food coloring. This will make 12 pints of nice pickles.
