Covell and Sams serve as Ohio FFA delegates<br>

AMANDA, Ohio — Crystal Covell and Stacey Sams, of the Amanda-Clearcreek (A-C) FFA Alumni Affiliate recently served as official delegates at the 36th annual Ohio FFA Alumni Convention hosted in Columbus, Ohio on Jan. 26, 2008. <br>
The FFA Alumni Association is an organization that supports and serves agricultural education programs and the FFA in Ohio and across the nation. <br>
FFA Alumni delegates, representing 82 affiliates, were present to conduct the business of the over 3,300 member Ohio FFA Alumni Association. A silent auction was conducted to raise money for FFA scholarships and leadership projects. <br>
The Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Alumni Affiliate is 47 members strong and conducted the following activities this past year: chaperoning A-C FFA High School trips, coaching contest teams, interviewing A-C FFA officer candidates, donating to the Area 6 Special Olympics and providing $1,500 in scholarships to graduating seniors. Other affiliates in the area include: Canal Winchester.<br>
FFA Alumni Affiliates were formed to operate in support of the over 7,300 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rica and the Virgin Islands. Their purpose is to help today’s agricultural youth by joining together in a united volunteer effort to assist FFA, promote a greater knowledge of the agricultural industry, and support education in local agricultural education programs.<br>
Indiana District IX FFA officers plan events<br>

HAGERSTOWN, Ind. — The Indiana District IX FFA officers and advisors met at Welliver’s on Jan. 4 to discuss upcoming events in 2008. <br>
A general planning session was held to discuss major events including the March 7 leadership career development event, volleyball tournament, chapter meeting contest, small engines evaluation, future district officer application information, Indiana FFA information and FFA Leadership Center update.<br>
Nine District IX chapters were represented by advisors including: Dan Webb from Tri-High FFA, Blair Orme and Travis Harvey from Rushville FFA, Don Sturgeon from Hagerstown FFA, Jim Weiler from Monroe Central FFA, Pat Redden from Western Wayne FFA, Kari Beckner from Liberty FFA, Jason Roll from Blue River Valley FFA, Gabe Nobbe from Connersville FFA, and Aaron McMillan from Northeastern Wayne FFA.<br>
Presenting the program were the District IX Officers: president: Emilie Kuhn, Rushville FFA, vice president: Heidi Melton, Shenandoah FFA, secretary: Courtney Hoeing, Rushville FFA, treasurer: Kaitlyn Culy, Hagerstown FFA, reporter: Travis Terhaar, Monroe Central FFA, and sentinel: Justin Orme, Rushville FFA.
Blair Orme and Travis Harvey serve as the 2007-2008 District IX advisors.<br>
Ft. Recovery attends leadership conference<br>

FT. RECOVERY, Ohio — Nine members of the Ft. Recovery FFA Chapter attended the two-day Made For Excellence Conference Jan. 12-13 in Columbus, Ohio.<br>
Operating around the state, the Made For Excellence Conference is a personal development seminar specifically for freshman and sophomore FFA members that explore topics such as self-esteem, motivation, goal setting, and teamwork.<br>
National MFE staff, as well as present and past Ohio FFA State Officers, put on the leadership conference, which was held at the Crown Plaza Columbus North Hotel.<br>
Ft. Recovery was proud to be represented and joined nearly 400 other FFA members from across the state. Members attending the conference were Michelle Brackman, Laura Braun, Craig Fortkamp, Nathan Fortkamp, Craig Fullenkamp, Caitlin Gehret, Alison Tobe, Aaron Will and Stacy Will.
