WOOSTER, Ohio — Valley College Grange in Wayne County will host its 5th annual Corn Show and Supper from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8. Last year’s event attracted almost 200 people, according to Shirley Pittenger, chairman of the Corn Show Committee.

“Our members are making plans for another good show and supper this year,” she said.

The highlight of the corn show is the meal featuring cornmeal pancakes, homemade fried mush, hominy, sausage, corn muffins and applesauce. The cost of the meal is $7 for adults and $4 for children, 5-12 years of age. Children 4 and under are free.

In addition to the meal, the corn show will feature classes for the Senior and Junior Divisions, old-fashioned corn equipment and memorabilia. Grange cookbooks, bags of roasted cornmeal and homemade canned goods will be available for sale. There will be free popcorn and cider available throughout the day.

There is no entry fee required and entries will be accepted at the Valley College Grange Hall from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 7. The corn will be on display Saturday, Nov. 8, with prizes awarded at the close of the show at 7 p.m.

An entry will consist of 10 ears of corn or one quart of shelled corn from this year’s crop. There will also be a class for the largest ear. Cash prizes will be awarded to class winners and there will be door prizes for all exhibitors.

For more information on the show, contact Pittenger at 330-264-8910. Valley College Grange Hall is located on State Route 226 near the Triway Drive-Thru.
