Corn yields top 220 at northern Indiana test site

LA CROSSE, Ind. – In an early-season test of corn hybrids in La Crosse, Ind., iCORN.com 108.1R was the top yield producer with 222 bushels per acre. G2 Genetics 5X-711C* was a close second, however, with 221.7 bushels.

With the close finish of iCORN.com and G2Genetics, the actual ranking by gross income was reversed. G2 Genetics was ranked first with $756.60 per acre and iCORN.com second with $751.50 per acre.

NuTech Seed 3T-106, with 209.3 bushels, headed the rest of the competition, more than 12 bu. per acre behind the top two hybrids.
The soil conditions consisted of Gilford-Maumee sandy loam, well drained with conventional tillage in the fall. The test was on the non-irrigated farm of Myron Schafer in LaPorte County of northern Indiana.

The previous crop was soybean treated with Glyphosate.
