DEKALB becomes official corn seed of Field of Dreams movie site in Iowa

DYERSVILLE, Iowa – Bayer’s national flagship brand DeKalb Corn Seed recently announced its new partnership as the official corn seed of the world-famous Field of Dreams movie site in rural Dyersville, Iowa.
For more than two decades, brothers Andy, Aaron and Adam Rahe of Rahe Farms in Dyersville, have farmed the Field of Dreams movie site, growing DeKalb DKC64-64RIB brand blend that surrounds the filming site of the iconic 1989 baseball movie, but had only recently entered into this official partnership with DeKalb.
“It’s been an honor for our family to be able to farm the Field of Dreams movie site, and grow DeKalb corn there,” said Andy Rahe. “It’s truly a one-of-a-kind experience, and it only makes sense to have the best corn brand in the world represented as the official corn seed of the Field of Dreams movie site.”
Andy told Farm World his family has had ties to DeKalb for these two decades: “It’s never been pushed upon us and no one has ever forced it on us. We just solemnly believe in DeKalb and the Field of Dreams.
“We rent the Field of Dreams and have since 2013,” he added. “We don’t own it.”
Jamie Horton, DeKalb brand manager, said, “The DeKalb brand is proud to partner with the Field of Dreams movie site, which is owned by Go the Distance Baseball, LLC, based in Dyersville.
“There’s nothing more American than baseball in small-town Iowa, surrounded by the famous winged ear of corn,” she said. “We are excited to be the chosen corn brand of the Field of Dreams movie site, and allow generations of performance to live on, and continue to help farmers reach new goals on their operations.”
The DeKalb brand’s partnership as the official corn seed includes naming rights, and signage.
Two professional Major League baseball games have played on site: the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees in 2021, and the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs in 2022.
