LEXINGTON, Ky. – Horse owners, farm managers and others interested in improving their equine facilities and management practices are invited to attend the 2026 Horses and Horsemen Farm & Facilities Expo Sept. 10 at Greymoore Stables LLC in Lexington.

Presented through the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, part of the UK Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, the expo gives participants an opportunity to hear from equine and agriculture specialists about decisions that can affect horses, facilities and feed management.

Camille and Grace Camp, of Greymoore Stables, will open the educational portion of the program with a welcome and overview of the farm. Their presentation will introduce participants to the host operation before the evening moves into several practical management topics. Both are UK alumni of the Equine Science and Management Program. Grace is currently working on her doctorate while Camille is currently in the university’s law school.

Bob Coleman, Ph.D., UK Equine Extension specialist, will discuss facility design and layout with the Camps. Farm design can influence how efficiently horses and people move around an operation, and the session will give attendees an opportunity to consider the way facilities are organized and used.

Coleman will also lead a session on proper equine nutrition and determining dosage based on a horse’s weight. Accurate estimates of body weight can be important when making feeding and management decisions, particularly when determining the appropriate amount of a product or treatment for an individual horse. The program will focus on practical considerations horse owners can apply to their own operations.

Hay management will also be part of the evening’s program.

Garrard Coffey, Rockcastle County Extension agriculture and natural resources agent, will discuss hay storage and analysis. Hay quality and proper storage are an important consideration for horse owners and managers.

“The program will focus on a new facility and how it has incorporated the concepts of flow to streamline activities on the farm,” Coleman said. “The development of the facility was to make sure horses were well cared for by working smarter, not harder.”

Together, the sessions are designed to address several parts of horse farm management, from the physical layout of a facility to the feed stored inside it. The on-farm setting will allow attendees to connect those topics with a working equine facility.
